Getting here
Logistics
The hunts are typically 10 to 12 days. With a travel day on either side of those dates. If your hunt starts on the 10th I encourage your flight into Alaska be booked to land on the 8th. The same timing occurs on the back end of the hunt, if your hunt ends the 20th get a flight out on the 22nd. It does not pay to be in a rush in Alaska, keep this in mind when your tickets are being purchased. Should your tag be filled early and you wish to depart early as most hunters do please purchase flexible airline tickets.
Getting to camp:
Your flight should be booked to Anchorage, AK, Ted Stevens International Airport two days before your hunt begins.
We will pick you up.
Once you land, your gear will be assessed, if anything is needed or missing the important item can be bought in town.
Before you arrive we will be in contact. If the weather is poor you may have to stay a night in town. There are a number of good hotels. I will give you my recommendation.
We will depart from Birchwood airport in a Cessna 185 or Super Cub. Flight time is 40 minutes to an hour.
Transport to any of the smaller airports will be arraigned at no cost to you.
Once you have landed, there will be a hike to the campsite that has already been set. I take a lot of time in the off season to scout and will have been to the area before you arrive to set camp and scout.
Once at camp:
We sleep in, top of the line “pup” tents. Kuiu, Hilleberg, or Samsaya.
Freeze dried meals will be provided. Typically a hot breakfast and a hot dinner. Lunch consists of salami cheese and different kinds of high quality snacks..
*Any kind of dietary restriction can be accommodated.
We will “spike” out for the duration of the pursuit.
Once the trophy is earned:
Once the trophy is earned, we will pack out the camp and the game to the nearest strip. Where we will be flown back to Birchwood.
Your trophy will be fleshed and salted and turned over to an expeditor to ship to your desired taxidermist.
