Caribou
Caribou
Caribou hunting in Alaska's Game Management Unit 16B offers a unique and rewarding experience for hunters seeking both adventure and a deep connection to nature. This region, known for its diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife, provides an ideal setting for those looking to engage in this time-honored tradition.
Ethical hunting is at the heart of a responsible caribou hunt. In GMU 16B, hunters must adhere to regulations that ensure sustainable practices and the conservation of wildlife. This includes obtaining the necessary permits, following bag limits, and respecting seasonal restrictions. Ethical hunters prioritize fair chase, ensuring that their methods do not compromise the integrity of the hunt or the well-being of the animals.
Moreover, a commitment to conservation extends beyond the hunt itself. Hunters are encouraged to educate themselves about local ecosystems and participate in community efforts aimed at preserving wildlife habitats. This holistic approach not only fosters a sense of responsibility but also enhances the overall hunting experience.
Day 1: Arrival
We pick you up from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport
Once you land, your gear will be assessed. If anything is needed or missing, supplies can be bought in town.
We will arrange transport from Ted Stevens to Birchwood Airport where we will depart in a Cessna 185 or Super Cub plane to our destination.
Once you land, there will be a hike to the campsite that has already been set. I take a lot of time in the off season to scout and will have been to the area before you arrive to set camp and scout.
Day 2-10: The Hunt
